Our surroundings
Mestas de Con
We are located in a small Asturian village, Mestas de Con. Just 10 minutes from Cangas de Onís, 15 minutes from Covadonga, 25 minutes from the beaches of Ribadesella and Llanes, and 20 minutes from El Cares Route, it is undoubtedly a strategic location for spending a few wonderful days of relaxation.
Places of interest
In Cangas de Onís, the key places to visit are the famous Roman Bridge and Covadonga, where the Basilica of Covadonga and the lakes of the same name are located.
The Roman Bridge of Cangas de Onís is a medieval construction, although it was built on top of another bridge from the Roman era.
Covadonga is 15 km from our location. According to tradition, Pelayo, who was elected king during the Battle of Covadonga (in 722), received encouragement from the Virgin Mary, who appeared to the Christian fighters at the very spot where the sanctuary of Covadonga now stands. The name Covadonga means “Long Cave.”
Continuing along the Covadonga road, in low season we can freely access the renowned Lakes of Covadonga (Lake Enol and Lake Ercina), where you can enjoy incredible landscapes and unbeatable views. In high season and on public holidays, access to the lakes is closed and can only be reached by public transport.

The Cares Route
The Cares Route is located about 20 km from our accommodation. It is undoubtedly the best-known route in the Picos de Europa National Park.
The route starts in Poncebos (Cabrales, Asturias) and ends in Caín (León), and is about 24 km round trip. The route follows a path of loose limestone rock and is nestled in the Cares River gorge. It is not recommended for those who suffer from vertigo, nor for families with very young children as there are no safety barriers.
From the same starting point in Cares, you can climb up to Bulnes, the only village in Spain without road access. It is an 8 km round trip with a considerable elevation gain.
